Hello! Brand new to raising chickens. My son got four chicks from school last week and we’re “fostering” for a few weeks until they move to a more permanent home on one of his classmate’s farm.

We currently have four chicks that are mixed breeds. One of our chicks had curled toes and is quite tiny, we’re working hard to help him/her make it!

So far it’s been really enjoyable to just sit and watch the chicks interact and run about their pen; they’re hilarious and adorable!

A lot of our energy with the chicks has been directed towards helping the little one. It was very rewarding being able to fix his foot, but I fear he’s still not out of the woods. I posted specifically about this on the “Raising Chicks” thread, but advice is welcome here as well!

Other hobbies include fitness, nutrition, board games, video games, and reading sci-fi.

Our family of three (me, wife, and son) love adventures and trying new things. While my son and I are the animal lovers, it’s been fun to see my wife display a bit of a soft spot for our foster chicks, especially the little one.

My wife and I stumbled onto BYC from our constant Google searches over the last few days in attempts to help our little chick.
