Hi new member from Scotland here. 4 years keeping 3 rescue hens (charity gets them at 14 months from farm instead of the abbatoir) They get a well deserved retirement instead. They are all hybrids shades of brown through to orange in colour. They come in various states of feather cover but in a few weeks they're happy free rangers. They also die readily but die happy. Thank you for the post about sour crop and vent gleet. I have my fingers crossed that the coconut oil route works for my oldest hen (5½) who is unwell. I'm trying and past experience with hens and vets is not great. I have been a cat and dog owner but all gone for the present at least. Otherwise, walking, running, gardening, volunteering and my job keep me busy.
Good to meet you each and all.
