Hi, I've been to this forum many times while researching my new chickens. I decided it was time to register.
I live in the mid-Atlantic region with my DH and 3 little girls. I have a large yellow lab, a fish and 16 chickens. Yes, 16. I'm new to chickens, just began mothering them this year. I have 6 red stars who are 8 weeks old. My other chicks are 3 weeks old. I have one Welsummer, 2 EE's, 2 Barred Plymouth Rocks and 2 BO's. I have 1 Roo, a BPR. He's a stinker already.
My older girls have been outside in their coop and free ranging for the past 3 weeks. The younger ones really want to join them, but we don't have electricity run to the coop yet for their heat lamp.
We converted a HD wooden shed to a coop, my husband is amazing! The only thing we have left to do is create a run. I didn't want to do this, but am concerned that they will tear up my garden. Plus, we live on a busy road. Although they are far away from it, I would hate for one to get too curious and wander into traffic.
