I love using herbs with the Girls as it's a natural way to insure health, well-being and happiness!

Wish I could find the link where I read this. My niece swears by it in her coop, too.
I remember the parsley because I was thinking "that's what I can do with all of the excess!" :D
I've been growing so many herbs that I just googled herbs+ chickens and it was in there somewhere.

So you just put the herbs on the nest boxes? Im sure they eat the herbs as well.

Yes, my niece just tears some off and places it in the boxes. Sometimes she "stirs" it in. Yep, they gobble it down like candy.

Yes, herbs can be put really anywhere and everywhere. But some have better uses where they are placed. For example: mint, rosemary, yarrow and oregano are best used in the coop. Lavender, rose petals, thyme and parsley are good in the nests. Basil, catnip, mint and cinnamon are best in the run. Dill, oregano, nasturtium and fennel are good in the dirt bathing area. Parsley, bee balm, dandelion and sage are best in the feeder. Anise, dill, parsley and garlic are good when they are molting and basil, parsley, lavender and clover are good in the brooder with chicks.

Also, I recently have discovered that marigolds are laying stimulants too. They are additionally an insect repellent and soother when if comes to irritated skin!

Bookmarked! Great reading. :) Thank you for sharing!
About getting those girls of yours comfortable in their new place, I don't have to do much for them, really, they are chickens. You will see just that as soon as you put them down. They will start pecking at the ground, looking for something. Soon though, you will have them decision who belongs where in the group. No biggy as long as their is no feather pulling! Nope, not fair, no feather pulling. :) At night, I put them on a roost in the coop. Usually only take s a couple of times, then they know where to sleep..sometimes, only once..folks don't give chickens enough credit for their smarts! Good luck, don't worry too much, they will get it. :) Enjoy!
