(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had 10 hens about two years ago for about 4 months in a pvc coop with 2" hole thin chicken wire around it, until a fox murdered 8 in one night and came back the next night and got the 2 remaining. I was very new to this and didnt do my research well. This spring we decided to own chickens again, so I ordered 10 easter egger pullets from hoover hatchery 3 weeks ago, lost 2 the first week, but the rest are thriving so far. and picked up 4 straight run rhode island reds at tractor supply, hoping for a rooster. unfortunately i think i have four roosters!!!
3 gotta go once i can surely sex them. Im in the process of building a 10x12 run and a 4x10 coop, with 2x6, 2x4, plywood, and 1/2 hole hardware cloth covering every open area , and going to run a 3' skirt of chicken wire under the ground all the way around it to keep the fox from digging under like he did last time.
