New member- very excited :-)

Hello, hello :)

That is just so lovely to see you suggest Australorps! Our first little mixed flock of 6 heritage hens were eaten by a bear one night and my absolute favourite was our Australorp :) It was a very sad thing and led to the installation of bear wire. A must have in the mountains of BC :-/

Yikes, if there were bears around here I think I would move to a high rise and never venture out. With my luck King Kong would probably scale the side of the building

Yep, Australorps are very hardy and a great breed for a beginner, or an experienced keeper.

Hello! Welcome to Backyard Chicken!!
Good luck with your chickens!
I would defiantly recommend Black Australorps also.
They are awesome egg layers and very friendly.

Hope you enjoy the site!

Great to see so many Australorp lovers! They're a great breed. Lay large eggs, and hot/cold hardy.
(This is one of my Australorps. Her name is Raven)
