Greetings from a semi-rural town in Colorado, in the Eastern Plains (not the mountains, lol). We are have our first flock of 6 hens which are 4-5 weeks old now.
Our chick mix is: 2 Black Australorps, an Isa Brown, a Plymouth Rock, an Ameraucana, and a Rhode Island Red. The girls are still indoors growing their feathers. In the meantime we are getting the coop and run ready for them.
I am a gardener, in our semi arid climate it is quite a challenge but I love it. My husband helps out with carpentry or heavy labor. He is more interested in driving the tractor
. Fine with me!
I have known about BYC for years. I probably found it through an internet search. I hope to learn from those who have had chickens for a while and learn along with other new members. It will be interesting to share experiences.
