Hi fellow duck lover
I too have the same type of duck. The ligaments in her leg slipped off and I found a vet to do surgery on her to replace the ligaments. Her joint remains significantly swollen and he now has her on an anti-inflammatory and antibiotic. I do passive range of motion on her joint three times a day but she still, after 3 weeks is unable to straighten out her leg. I hope with time this will get better. I know how you feel about your friends and family not understanding your compassion towards your duck. I love my duck, Annie. We are becoming very acquainted throughout this whole process. I keep her in a pen and let her out frequently. She goes into the small pond with her mate and they have a good time together. She really misses him and they are so cute together. Good luck with your feathered friend and hang in there. Maybe recovery takes longer than we think.
