(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am fairly new to raising chickens. Got our first one this past spring.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We currently have 9 chickens. 2 are laying now, 3 should be laying within the next month and the other 4 are just 5 weeks old.
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Red Sex Links, 2 Barred Rocks, 1 Buff Orpington, 3 Gold Laced Wyandottes, and 1 Blue Andalusian.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Web searching chicken information
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Wood turning, kayaking, and disc golf
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My daughter is the reason for us getting into raising chickens. She has wanted some for a few years now and we finally gave in. She seems to not have as much interest in them as in the beginning. Guess the cleaning and feeding is not fun for her, lol. Plus the fact that she just got her drivers license so she is never home anymore. I have really enjoyed raising them myself. Watching them with all their personalities has been very entertaining. The first 2 we got were about 4 months old so we skipped the baby chick rearing. The last batch of ones we got were about a week old so a whole new learning experience.
