Hello my name is Molly I have been owning chickens since I was about 3 years old I had three at the time and they were barred rocks. I don’t how birds I have a the moment maybe around 30. The breeds I own now are barred rocks, production reds, favorrels, Cochin, polish, silver spangled Hamburg and her chicks with are mixed breeds, and americanas. I found out about back yard chickens when one of my birds got sick and I have been looking at threads that pop up since never thought about joining but my birds have been getting sick or not handling our cold winter very well. The hatchery birds I got this year are not going very well so I will be turning to breeders in the spring.

Thank you and so happy to join this wonderful group of chicken people!

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Hatchery breeds aren't always the healthiest of birds. Too much inter and over breeding. Some of them however fair pretty well. I will definitely turn toward Heritage breeds in the future. Good luck with your flock!

So glad you could join our community! :)
