Hi my name is Danielle, I just got chickens for the first time in May. I have 12 all together right now and have 5 different breeds. I have 1 buff brahma rooster who just started to crow this morning, he kinda freaked me out at first, I thought there was a guy outside yelling. My chickens have not laid any eggs yet, I'm hoping they will any day. I have been researching things online but I got into this with no idea what I was doing so I'd love any advice!
Welcome! :welcome

Chickens should be laying any day now if they are going on 5 months old, although some breeds wait a bit longer. Also, I'm not sure where you are located, but I'm assuming that you get cold weather judging by the profile picture full of Fall leaves. Young chickens will sometimes hold out until the Spring if cold weather sets in before they are ready to lay. Adding lights in their coop/run to ensure they get 14 hours of light per day may help. Artificial lighting is a debated topic in the poultry world though, so make your own choice. I can say that I do it and I'm happy (my birds seem happy too) with the results.
