Welcome to the BYC forum. We are so Egg-cited you joined. You'll find invaluable learning information and experience interactive subjects. Look around and Learn all you can because you came to the Right place with some Very knowledgeable peeps on hereGood morning! I’m new to the group.
I've had chickens for over 8 years, ducks and guineas for 5 years. We currently have 31 chickens, 7 ducks and 7 guineas. We also have 14 new chicks and 2 ducklings in my basement as well. Our chicken breeds include Salmon Flaverolla, easter Eggers, Amarecaunas, Buff and Lavender Orpington, Welsummer, Austrolorp, Marans, Bantams, Barred Rock, Cinnamon Queens and several others. I have Jumbo Pekins (Roo and Tigger), crested Pekins (Penelope and Tallulah), Welsch Harlequins (Yanno and Ducky Bucky), a Mallard (Howard/Pedro) and the ducklings are Cayugas. The guineas are Lavendar, Pied and Pearl.
I love watching them play and graze, each one has their own personality. They bring me joy when the stress of life takes over. Spending time taking care of them has been a reprieve from work, health issues, family drama and illness with my son. I also enjoy gardening and look forward to providing them some new treats that come fresh from our garden this year.
I have a husband and two teenage sons (16 & 13) who keep me on my toes. We also have a ferret (Biddy), a cat (Stomper) and two dogs (Chance and Tex). I work full time as a Regional Service Manager over the Midwest for a pallet company. I used to travel often before COVID and have started again within the last couple of weeks. We live on 6 acres which provides plenty of room for the flocks to roam during the day.
Over the years I’ve searched for answers to help with new issues that arise with my flock and this group has been a great resource. I figured it was time to join so I could ask questions directly and also possibly provide input about my experiences when applicable. I am excited to be a part of the group!
Thanks for the add!
