Hello everyone, I’m Madalyn, live in small coastal town in Texas with my husband and three children. We love raising our chickens even though it has been much more effort and intention than I anticipated! I joined this community in hopes of support and education.

We got our first chickens in May of this year as a Mother’s Day Gift. We started with 7, had one die with what we believe were crop issues, then 3 were killed by a neighbor’s dog, so we were left with 3. Our children were devastated! So we got 7 new babies in July, and now we have 10 of the following breeds:
-Olive egger
-Easter egger
-Cinnamon queen
-Speckled Sussex
-Lavender Orpington
-German bielefelder
-Splash ameraucana (who we believe to be a roo)
-Blue australorp
-Cream legbar
-Salmon Faverolle

I’m looking forward to learning from the experts here. :)

I love the mix up in the breeds, and the blues, lavenders, splashes, and creams are my favorite colors :love
