I just hatched out 24 beautiful little Serama chicks, 2 Delawares, 2 SS Hamburgs, 2 Egyptian Fayoumis and 1 lone little Spitzhauben chick. 3 more incubators full of eggs due to hatch in a week!

So how many days did it take for the Seramas to hatch?

LOL I'm getting inspected next week and I'm going to request 25 adults versus the 6 I'm allowed without obtaining a permit. My real problem is I'm only allowed 3 roos! Gotta figure out if I can talk my way into at least four

I can't keep everyone I hatch gotta be picky but if I lived on a farm you better believe I'd have 100+ chickens no problem lol

exactly! LOL I have some silkies that I have nooo idea if they are cockerels or pullets and I'd bet they wouldn't know the difference either unless somebody is crowing. I only plan on keeping the ameraucana girls just for eggs since they would be pretty darn easy to tell apart from silkie eggs. I have a 10 week old ameraucana right now I can't decide what the sex is. I thought forever she was a pullet but today she was the first one to challenge the new older silkies so now I'm wondering...

I got some breeding pens set up, and now my big Lav Ameraucana rooster is in with 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes. In a month or so he will be in with some barred rocks (are you happy, DAK?! lol We are going to have some lavender barred next year

I'm telling you, once you get a pure line of Lav/Barred EEs people will be knockin on your door. Just do your research on the Barred gene, it's sex linked. You might need to do a Barred rock boy to Lav girls. I think you need to look at it that way on the genetics calculator through the f2 generation.

Yeah, Ive been reading about it being sex-linked, so hens only have one barring gene- which makes it difficult to make them all uniform. Also, I wonder if the lavender will be too light to really show up on the hens, like with buff barred/lemon cuckoo hens...
We'll see!!!
