Mine is set at 47%, and then I stop turning at 18 days but leave them at 47% til I see pips, then they get shifted to the hatcher at about 65-70%. Seems to be working well.

Good! The last two egg hatched after you left, both Lavs. Total 33 chicks.

Are you feeling any better?

I didn't get an answer from Tom regarding age to apply wingbands, but he did say to only apply them about half way along the length of the band, not fully to the crease in the band. He also said you won't see them on Ameraucanas that show.

He also said that his white was the same age as the black, but starting to molt.

Yes, I started feeling better on Sunday afternoon right before we went to your house and have felt good since

I had a great time looking at your birds and talking to you, I love going to your house.

That's good to know about the wingbands on Ameraucanas... I was under the impression that for a good impression all "serious" breeders should use wingbands and if you don't use them people think you aren't serious!!! lol I'm perfectly happy not using the wingbands!

That makes a lot of sense about the black and the white... explains a lot.

What projects, if any, can recessive white be used for? Any ideas?

I think the wingbands are still good for the Cochins, and probably Brahmas, due to the feathered legs.

White can probably be used like Black, to improve type, but harder to tell where it might be lurking in subsequent generations.

Well, DAK, all 4 babies are doing well, and seem to be happy as can be.

I am having a hard time telling them apart, so I haven't named them yet... I am still working on that one.

Lost 3 hens last night to a predator... It ripped the chicken door off the coop and the trim from the main door and had a feast. 1 rooster survived. Not sure what decided to treat my coop like a can of sardines but I have a feeling it will be back.
