Hello! Dave here in Los Lunas! I've got 4 of SOME kind of Red (production Red, New Hampshire Red, Red Sex Link, no one around here knows what they are selling) in a brooder box in my living room while I am building their run/coop.

Hello NM! Why the heck aren't there more NM chicken people? I'm just getting started and was wondering if anyone in my area was showing chickens and could give me some guidance.

I used Onate feed until my Feed Store quit supplying it and went to another Brand. My chickens liked Onate Feeds from Albuquerque....AND I could buy 21% Protein feed and mix it with scratch as I chose.

Now, I can't find 21% feed (for game-birds, etc.)

I just bought Layena from a different feed store. It costs more.

But, perhaps the chickens will like it better than the "other brand" that my feedstore started carrying.

My feed store in Espanola recommended Turkey Grow (Purina) for chicks. It has 20% protein and they seem to have thrived on it. They are now 2 months old and I plan to keep them on it for another couple of months unless someone has a better recommendation. It's more expensive than some other 50# bags and I can switch anytime. Thoughts? Thanks.
