New mystry chick, any clues, it was sold as silver laced wyandatte?

The standard does call for rose comb, but a straight-combed SLW has better fertility. A lot of breeders keep a straight combed roo over their girls to increase their fertility.

My GLW has a single comb. My SLW has a rose comb, but her offspring have had both. Dunno.

The chick looks like what my SLW was like as a baby. Your chick is a cutie!

Yep, that's a SLW alright. I have one with a single comb as well...I also heard that the single combed birds have better fertility so it is supposed to be nice to have one in the mix.

Personally I don't hatch my SLW eggs anyway so the single comb just helps me tell my two girls apart for naming puposes.
