Hi Penny,Welcome to Backyard Chickens sorry you lost your other birds they are communal
creatures and need more bird company around
Hi Penny,
Rosemary is old (4yrs) and I didn’t know if new birds would bully her (last autumn) so I moved her in to the house with me. I’d seen a lone hen before looking lost without her flock but I got the feeling Rosemary was happy enough with the situation and after much thought went with this. Might get a few new exbats in the spring and see if she minds being out with them.
Thanks, I’ll give this a goThe key would be to let them see each other for a week but no touch then supervised visits at least a week as long as squabbles do not draw blood and she will probably stay queen bee
Hi andHi, I’m from England, it’s raining here, has done every day since it quit snowing.
I’ve kept hybrid hens for six years as pets but don’t eat eggs, the neighbours benefit thus.
I have one remaining hen Rosemary who is a rescue/exbat and lives in the house with me for company.
We watch tv or listen to music at night while she tries to steal my Doritos.
She didn’t like Pink Floyd but apart from that is indifferent to music, pecks at the screen when there is food stuff on but doesn’t get worried about lions or scary stuff on screen.
I tinker with classic cars for a hobby, Rosemary isn’t allowed in the garage because of the mess she causes and because she goes underneath stuff and gets filthy.
Profile picture is from one day recently when it was muddy in the garden.
