We just got our new chicks... 5 Buff Orpington and 5 White Plymouth Rocks. They where in the mail for 3 days from Cackle Hatchery in Lebanon, MO They all arrived in very good shape. Soon as we took them out of the box they where on the food and water. We do have 7 Older 2-3 year old RIR, will be interesting this August when they all meet!!

Lucky you! Soon they'll out grow the cardboard corral and be ready to meet the big gals!

The corral is sitting in a 4X8 pen that I built for just this. I believe they will be able to stay in there till it is time to go out and might the rest of the flock. From what I have read this should be around 12 weeks of age. Am I correct in this time frame?

They can go out at about 4-5 weeks old. If you are integrating into an existing flock they may need to be a bit older.Situating them where they can meet with a fence between them may be in store if that's the case.
