I agree. The lower the temp the longer it will take for the chicks to hatch and the higher the temp the sooner they can take to hatch. I usually try to keep my incubator as close to 100 as I can. They generally take 21 days but can hatch a day or two early or a day or two later. Good luck and have fun!!!

what kind of incubator do you have? sounds like you need a better one!

Right now I'm usin one that I had just built,(styrofoam cooler). But having a really hard time keeping temp between 99 & 100. I used a lower water heater thermostat but modified it lastnite to make it more sensitive. It is very hard to get it just right,that light dial on the thermostat is very hard to turn and very touchy. Please let me know if there is a trick to adjusting it a better way.Don't forget I'm Beginner. But I will get it right or it won't be done at all.

Hi again everyone and I just want to let you all know that I just put 3 eggs in incubator 2 blue eggs and 1 white egg that I had got from the feed store next door.
Put them in @ 5:50pm florida time. So I'm taking a go at it while I'm still playing with temp. Humidity is ranging from 55% to 61%.If anyone knows a easier way to adjust a thermostat please let me know.I got tired of waiting to get the right temp so I just put them in and work with temp as I go along. Please keep posting advise on what to do or good ranges for both Humidity and someone had said to get temps around 99 and 100 and I should have a good hatch if them eggs are fertile.And please help on candling, What to look for and all. Thank You for all the help everyone.So far that I have noticed that the easiest part of incubating is make it but the really hardest part is making sure you get them temp & humidity right.If I get atleast one (1) to hatch atleast I will know that I had done something right. If the rest don't hatch could mean a few different things, And one that I know of the eggs might not have been fertile.

try to keep the average temp 99.5. i use a calculator to add the 2 temperatures and then divide by 2 and I get the average. try to go for 97.5 and 101.5. the average of that is 99.5. dont forget to turn the eggs 3 times a day (unless u already have a turner)

Update: I got my temps hold at 96.3 & 100.9 after all this time playing around with it.
