Wow! This thread gave me the very much needed push to revive my ten gallon tank. I ordered some water testing supplies yesterday, and am planning on eventually getting a plakat betta!

I just wanted to share this quote with all of you fish lovers. It may help the newbies! Please pass it around.

"Don't put anything sharp into your tank. This includes glass with sharp edges, or painted glass, objects or decorations with sharp edges. Paint can flake off objects and poison your fish."

A few months ago I noticed that Swimmer was getting torn up fins. I realized it was from a sharp plant I had in his tank. I removed it instantly and he is getting better. Lets watch out for our little fishy buddies!

Hello everyone!

Thought I'd give an update on Blue Boy.

He is doing great and is very settled into his new home. I bought him a new plant and I can't wait to add it to his tank.

I am wondering how long I need to wait to do the first water change? I thought there was something about not changing it for a while if you have a new fish..... anyway, thanks for your help!

Is the tank cycled? If not, you should be doing a water change every day. If it is, then it depends on your tank size. It's only 1 gallon right? So I would probably do a water change twice every week. You don't want too many nitrates building up in the water. Also, remember to dechlorinate the fresh water before adding it to the tank.
