My two little black hens, Laverne & Shirley, stay extremely busy and are so sweet. Now my boys, they're very pleasant with me but live up to the "fighting" Blue Hen name when it comes to other roos!

Bec, what category are you going to enter your birds in at the fair?

After much deciphering of my calendar scribbles, I have concluded that Angus is from the April Fools hatch, and my splash and Corky were hatched about May 3rd. Just in different states!

Sunny, when did yours hatch?

I think they get the gold from their dad, he has a little too. I prefer it, but thats just me...we'll find out next summer! I love their lacing, so pretty! Once they molt, they will fill out a lot! Jake's slate blue is gorgeous!

I don't know what category they go under, but they had them at the Delaware State Fair for as long as I can remember. I will find out.

Hahaha, Now Ceasar is just the opposite! He is aggressive with me, but gets along great with all 5 of my other roos, he actually calls them over to feed them! Corky is good too, he definitely respects the elder roos! The girls are sweet and quiet.

I like the gold shading in their hackle feathers. I guess it's a good thing Elwood lives in Florida so his big ole comb won't get frostbit; he's the smallest roo but has the biggest comb (and attitude!). Jake is the Ladies man; he & the girls liked to cuddle at night when they were younger. I've got my pullets & roos separated right now.

Thank you, I was just going to say the same for Jake and Elwood! I haven't really sorted out the six hens- maybe today, if it doesn't rain again.

The date fits- I remember your hatch was due shortly after mine. The are such pretty birds!
