New pics of my Delaware Blue Hen roosters!

A distant cousin to the "Delaware Blue Hen".....an "Irish Game", this one is known as a "Blue/Red Irish Game" and I suspect the Delaware Blue Hen decended from these "Irish Games" often used by Irish and English imigrants for "sport" in the early 1800's.

This picture was taken just before he molted....after molting he lost a lot of the red and was a beautiful Blue Cockerel (stag).

Unfortunately, he accidently got out of his coop last week and got into a battle with his brother while I was at work. When I got home both cockerels were nearly dead and almost frozen from the loss of blood, lack of movement and subzero temps! Both were moved into my basement and placed under heat lamps but died the next day.

Below is the brother....he, too is an "Irish Blue" and is much lighter in the "blue" spectrum.....(the flash makes him look white)!

As soon as the weather breaks here in Ohio (winter in Ohio sux) I will get pics of my Delaware Blue Hens (DBH) and share them with everyone! As mentioned in my previous post my DBH's came from UD last spring in the form of hatching eggs, most hatched and only a few were culled and most appear to have white ear lobes (Andalusian infussion possibly).

...I guess any breed that has a "black" and a "white" version can be bred to create a "blue" breed!
