New Point of Lay Hen - Pale/Wattle turned pale .....

Pics
Just read this whole thread as had a very loved young point of lay hen pass away today with very similar symptoms. We’re also in the UK (Hampshire). Very sorry to hear of Ginger’s passing - I was really hoping for a recovery :( Did you ever find out any more what was wrong? Thank you for sharing Ginger’s story and hope all well with your flock.

Hello, I’m so sorry for your loss, it’s heartbreaking when you lose one. I tried so hard to save Ginger but it wasn’t to be. I didn’t find out what was wrong, the closest I got was the worming result saying she had high levels of Cocci. But all the usual remedies didn’t work so whether there was something else underlying - I don’t know!
I’d never experienced Cocci before. The breeder I got her from doesn’t vaccinate but does give medicated feed.
The other hens I got at the same time from the same breeder are all fine.
I've since had some more rescue hens (ex barn hens) they’re beautiful - lacking a lot of feathers - but they’ll grow back now they’ve got a big free range area to retire in.
They’re all keeping me busy from a recent hatching 🐣 to an older lady I’m still treating for bumblefoot!

Hope the rest of your flock are well.

Glad to hear the rest of your flock all well and hope your new rescue ladies settle in to their retirement 😊 The rest of ours are all well. We had a hatch of all boys in May and are now growing up last month’s hatch with hopefully a few girls to add to our little flock~
