New Project "Road to Ok" Quilt for My Bed (Top Finished!)

Quote:
Here I go again....posting my favorite fabric site: ThousandsofBolts.com
I buy from them and use Paypal. really nice fabrics, great prices and quick shipping. They have name brand manufacturers 100 % quilt grade cottons.
Fabrics are all less than $5 a yard and she buys from manufacturers warehouse stock that wasn't contracted by fabric outlets. Fabrics are arranged online in color categories and there is a color matching assist you can use. Colors of fabrics have been pretty true to what I get on screen too.

I've seen that site, really cool! I don't have paypal, but honestly, I really need to see the fabric in person, feel the body of it, etc.

You know, I really don't know the story behind that block or if there is one. I was looking for a block that was very simple so it would make for fast cutting and piecing, yet when put together, yielded many possibilities and would look less simple than it really is. This one really fit the bill!

Many of the old quilt patterns were named by woman on wagon trains. I don't know but possibly somebody dubbed the name as they hand pieced a quilt on their way to Oklahoma.

Cool thanks you guys

Looks like I have some research to do...I would really like to find out some specifics if there are any. If I find out anything, I will post the info here if you would like

If you use the mock up in post # 10 ... where the yellow is, I think you may want to use a gold in a light shade / value. I'll show you an example, a quilt I started many years ago ... I wanted gold and purple ... the gold I used is much too dark on this. So, I never finished it! LOL I think once you have chosen the colors you want, you need to just stand back (at the fabric shop) and look for the value you need. Here is the ugly quilt example (I should have use much lighter:

Kathy, that is great! I love purple and yellow. In fact, before I quit quilting a few years ago, I bought purple and yellow to make a Hunter's Star quilt. Tried some of those blocks, didn't like making them, so didn't ever do it. Reminds me of irises and daffodils! You should finish that, Kathy. I'd put it on my bed! You gave me an idea, though.

Send me your address ... it's yours! I'm trying to get rid of some of my UFOs, and ridiculous amounts of fabrics. I would love for you to take it, finish it, and use it! I have more coordinating fabric to add onto the outside of the border, as well. I have the backing fabric to go with it, too. I just don't have the time to finish it, because I have others I want to complete and others to begin! How about some of this ....
I'm happy to report that that_crazy_lady is coming over to take some of my stash to begin her first quilting project! YAY! Look at this thread, do you think I need to decrease my stash? Honestly, it's embarrassing .... I could never use all this in a lifetime!
