New Project "Road to Ok" Quilt for My Bed (Top Finished!)

I think once I buy some more fabric in the tones I want and lay it out and contemplate it, it will hit me and I'll know what to do. I agree, the second arrangement does look more cabin-y, Sandy.

I haven't found much of anything on the history of the block/quilt yet. Still looking. Got a few decent leads though...I think you just may have pushed me over the edge to learn quilting with this pattern.

Went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and bought some fabric, a darker solid gold at the right below, dark green and some dark blue at the left of the pic. Was thinking maybe in the center of the star, a "checkerboard" of blue and red, gold star points and the outside of the points the dark green and when it comes together, it should look okay, but I'll take any other suggestions based on my fabric. Still thinking, but my cutting board and machine are set up, fabric washed and ready to start, as soon as I settle on what the heck I'm doing, LOL.

I will show the blocks when I have enough to come together to show the secondary star pattern that emerges, but bet I'll change my mind before I even get started as to what color goes where, LOL.

That is a great link. So many different looks from one block!
I love the scrappy look one. I like the reds, blues, beiges and tans used. I did a quilt in those colors, long ago, for one of my sons when he was in the military. I think he has practically worn that thing out by now. But I do like the colors!
Which setting do you prefer?

I like the one where each block is turned opposite to the other. The other one is also nice, but it's more contemporary looking to me and not the exact look I'm going for this time. I may make the other one, though, in the future, maybe to sell.
