I doubt she's going to want to be up and around, but should I keep her crated? What should I do about her defecating? She weighs 6 pounds so if she goes in the house I can clean it up easily, but I am worried about contaminating the other 4. But, right now the other 4 are banished outside so I don't want to contaminate their living area right now...what would you do?

I'd keep her in a place that is easily bleached like the bathroom. Quarantine for at least another week - bleach your shoes (or better yet have special shoes you wear only to go in that room), wash hands, etc

I only have one bathroom, it's 6x10 feet and I'm halfway through painting it

Not taking any chances, I'm taking her to the vet so she can have a temp taken when I pick up Junie. Wish me luck

OMG, i just read some of this thread and i am soo sorry! That is horrible to deal with! I am so surprised the shelter didn't run a test, and vacc it! that's like the first thing that gets done usually! Didn't read all the posts but did you call the shelter? i wander what they said? they have an issue cause that stuff is like wildfire, spreads!

Glad your pup is doing better

given the timeline, the parvo didnt come from the shelter. Parvo incubation period i 7-14 days. She had the puppy 4 weeks. Too long away from the shelter for it to be from there.

Glad the pup is doing well. Hopefully the other dogs will be just fine though since they were already exposed. The pup with the temp may be positive but could very well fight it off without symptom but better safe then sorry!
Its amazing how well they can do with vet care. I have a parvo survivor too.

OK I kept my mouth shut on this even though it's been setting off my ulcer everytime I read someone "correcting" me about my near-dead dog's disease timeline, so I'll just say it...I am NOT blaming the shelter for "giving" my dog Parvo. I am a Biology teacher and I understand incubation times, how vaccinations work, etc. I also understand with the timeline that it is feasibly impossible for the shelter to "give" the puppy parvo. Additionally, I understand this is one of the most mutated, complicated RNA strains of virus and one of the smallest in size, making it impossible to "kill" or inoculate for.

What I am saying, and this is coming from the mouth of my Texas A&M trained veterinarian with 45 years experience, is that he's seen a LOT of shelters say they've vaccinated dogs and given them all the boosters, when in reality they have NOT. Being that I only met the shelter worker for 30 minutes on the side of a road and she said she was a vet tech volunteer that personally gave the shots to the puppy, I have no physical proof this puppy ever got its shots.

From his point of view and from the way the dog has come down with the illness, he thinks that my puppy was NOT fully vaccinated and therefore not given a fair chance to boost its immune system to fight the parvo infection. The only place I have erred here is in NOT asking for a full written history of its inoculation and for having the audacity to trust a person that I deemed to have the best interests of one of its shelter animals in mind. Obviously, I learned from my mistake and know what to look for in the future when adopting a puppy. I am a very good pet owner with a lot of drama on her plate, and I am doing my darn best to make sure all 5 of these dogs get what they need in this time. I am not looking to "blame" anyone for anything. I just find it incredibly ironic that the first dog I ever adopted from a facility that has no brick-and-mortar office but a bunch of people "fostering" animals immediately decides to nearly drop dead on me.
