The craziest thing happened today. On Thursday I picked up a lab mix to keep my German Shepherd company while they take on the wild outdoors together. He listens(Soemwhat) and I love him dearly actually cause he isn’t that difficult to train. The owner had him in bad conditions so I’m sure he is much happier in his current condition,as he gets to run and play outdoors all day then be stuck in a cage all the time.Anywho,Ironically my mom was driving home and what do know, she comes home and tells me to look in the back, all I see is a big fluff ball.He is a Great Pyrenees. We we’re legit wanting one of these as they usually are for sale for a couple hundreds,Well we got one for free.He isn’t in good condition and I don’t think he was cared for right or just ran away. When he came here it was obvious he rolled in something dead(no biggie,my dogs do that every other month). He has a TON of stick tights and ticks,I am hopes he was abandoned and his actual owner didn’t just let him live like this. His ears were filled with ticks and he has a wound that looks as if he was actually shot, but it could be from anything.I have given him a bath while doing so noticed when my hands raise at him as I’m going to go pet him he flinched, this puppy I think has been abused unfortunately .
Anywhoe after bathing him and removing what I could of the stick tights,I put a leash on him, what a mistake. He is stubborn,it was like throwing a collar on an untamed horse. When he doesn’t wanna go somewhere he just sits there,I dragged him and he wouldn’t budge. He is a heavy breed dog and is only maybe four months old maybe younger. He obviously is bigger the My thirteen week old lab puppy. So,I had to get my mom outside to fight with him,he goes where he wants to go when he wants to go.It was actually a shocker as the lab didn’t need but a few reminders and now goes in my directions only, but he is so well behaved he is off leash.
The second time I took the Great Pyreens (aka Sammy) out, things went smoother until he decided he wanted to exploring towards the street,It redirected him and that’s usually when he just decided to throw his weight around then he will just sit there. At this point we have a personal understanding,I won’t do what he wants and he won’t do what I wants,so we just sit there until I decided to literally carry him all the way back down to the house. Its ridiculous right? He is nearly the size of my female German Shepherd and I’m caring him as if he was a TEN POUND Puppy.I am definitely a guy who need to work on their patience levels as well as I get irrated easily, escpecially when my animals don’t behave,I just wanna bust.I am taking it lightly as I have no idea what his past was like, and he is only been her for a few hours,I just got him toe at about an hour and half ago as he isn’t nearly as treat motivated as my lab is,or any dog.I want him leashed trained right now because I don’t have the trust to let him off leash.I have tried the collar tugging method and “Overpowering” him,but it didn’t work.Tomorrow I’ll see if he is more good motivated and maybe even try him and the leash again and maybe his confidence levels will build up and he will trail behind me and my other two pups.In the meantime can I get soem tips?
