Heya everyone!
I joined this community as my bf and I are getting button quails soon, and I’d like to find as many tips/help as I can before they come home!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I’ve been raising chickens since I was a young kid! My very first was named Snuggly Cuddles, and my very last was named Bee! My family had a farm, and even when we moved to NY, we still raised chickens!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Currently, I don’t have any since I left home, but I’ll be getting four button quail very soon!
(3) What breeds do you have?
As stated above, soon to be four buttons!
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They have such personality! We raise ours as layers/pets only, and I think they’re really interesting little guys to have around!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I’m also an artist and collector of cute things! I have a lot of smaller collections, like Furbies and Tamagotchis, and small figure collections, like bears and snow globes!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I currently live with my boyfriend of a year+, our two Shiba Inu (Gumbo and Phoebe), our three leopard geckos (Bean, Blue and Spaghecko), our Axolotl (Gleep) and our four hermit crabs (Neptune, Kirby, Riesling and Tamatoa)!
I currently work part time at a daycare, and part time at a realty company, and my boyfriend works at a nuclear pharmacy!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I’ve been a lurker for a while, on and off for a couple of years, but now that I’m raising my own flock, I thought it would be very helpful to join on our journey of Button Quail ownership!
I hope I can learn a lot here from the other owners on raising my quails to be happy and healthy!!
