new research debunks trad views on nutrition

I don't think the world's food problems are going to be solved with lettuce and strawberries grown aquaponically. Regarding which, nothing was said about the nutritional quality of the berries, just their weight, so it's the same old big ag agenda that got us to the present situation of too much food yet malnutrition diseases in the people who eat it. People overconsume because they are not getting the nutrition they need from the stuff they are eating. Just like some chickens on some feed regimes.

When some of the politicians took a hard line with immigration the migrant workers were afraid to go to those states. The farmers couldn't get workers to pick strawberry and such. So crops rotted in the field.

I do not know about California farms but in NC there are still lots of migrant workers. On Sundays there are bus loads at a nearby Walmart and other grocery stores too. Most do farm work and some have moved into factory/warehouse jobs as well. Some have aquired citizenship and are buying homes with intentions to stay.

The problem is getting Americans to do these manual labor jobs. Many feel they are above that type of work. A manual labor job is better than no job.

My Grandmother worked at a textile mill boarding socks. Hard, hot work, very poor pay. She told me she was just thankful to have a job at the time. People don't think like that anymore.

I often get asked why I garden. Some say it's too much work and you can afford to go to the grocery store. Work is good for my body and mind. I like to know what I eat. So I'll do the work. :)

Around here there's no workers. Lots of restaurants have closed or limited hours. Same with the grocery stores. One grocery store is picking up non driving retirees to work in the stores. At least I seen several guys my age get out of a store van and shortly started stocking shelves. I asked and that's what they said.

Farm workers have different Labor laws
60% of other industry wages. Longer hours
