New Silkie Breeder

Thank you everyone :) You have all made me feel very welcome. I know I'm going to really enjoy this group, & learn a lot from it. My original plan was to work with grey silkies, as greys are not recognized here in New Zealand .... not sure why that is. But due to the mishap over the eggs I got sent, it looks as if I will end up working with partridge, which apparently is not very popular here, with few breeders working with it. I have to confess, that I never really liked partridge either, but Zuni's coloring is so attractive, that I might just be on a mission lol. I love my whites also. Can someone please tell me what the difference is between a frizzled Silkie & a Sizzle? Thank you.

JaeG ..... Nice to meet you :) What color is Dora? Silkies are adorable.

Dora is a bit of a mutt colour wise. She's buff with blue in her top knot, in her neck and in her tail.

I rather like the partridge colour so I'll look forward to seeing some of your birds on here.

I believe sizzle is silkie + frizzle, and frizzled silkies are just frizzled, no silkie gene. I could be wrong though.
Welcome to BYC!
Thanks. I thought 3 of my first hatching were frizzled silkies, because when their little wing feathers began to develop, they were curled back towards the head. They are now 13 weeks old, & they mainly look like the other silkies, with just their wing feathers a bit curled. I've seen pics of Sizzles & mine don't look as "extreme" as those Sizzles. Posting up some pics. Opal (white beauty, who I am really hoping is a girl ... no crowing yet .... but I suspect she is a he). Opal had curled wing feathers as a small chick .... Other pic shows 3 of the other chicks in that hatching ..... the first black chick is Lulu (definitely a girl) ... She had curly wing feathers as a small chick, & they still curl a bit. Otherwise she just looks like a gorgeous little Silkie with a pompom crest. The other black one (on the right side) is Raven, & he is a Silkie. The middle one is one of the two partridge chicks with single comb instead of walnut comb .... but otherwise just looks like a Silkie ... however both of those partridge boys with the single combs have amber eyes rather than black. I have other pics that show the frizzled bits much better, but they are all on my husband's iPad. When I get the chance, I will post some up. So what do you think? Do they look like Sizzles?
