New Silkie mama here!

I'm a newbie with silkies and just had my first one hatch in the incubator!! (From my silkie hen's very first eggs). I concerned about the other two eggs that have pipped but no progress (it's been about 24 hours since first pip). Should I be assisting??.
Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow Congrats on your first silkie!

Usually, if one hatched fine, they all should have so wondering what might have happened.

24 hours after the first pip, it's okay to assist, but make sure they didn't get shrink-wrapped. Has the incubator remained closed and the humidity about 70%?

I used this article to learn how to assist them as I occasionally get one with air cell on the sides that will have trouble.

If you have to assist, there is a chance it's going to have issues with its legs or feet. The best thing for those is to turn the incubator down to 95F and leave them in for another 12/24 hours. They don't need food/water for 72 hrs, so you can just leave them alone in there without worry.

Silkies can be prone to vitamin deficiencies, so get some Poultry Cell or similar vitamins and have it on hand in case you notice anything.

Wishing you a great hatch!

Hope you enjoy your time here! 😊

Hi! How are they doing now? I hope they are doing great! It's fun to hatch your own eggs!

Thanks for joining and welcome to BackYard Chickens!
They are doing so well!! Growing and seemingly happy, healthy, awesome! They are 6 days old today and making a big mess. Keeping their brooder nice and cozy with lots of fresh food and water. It's generally warm here, but for us it's been "chillier" at night. Their brooder stays cozy though.
