Hello, I was just given a silkie 2 days ago. I'm not sure how old it is but it looks to be around 8 weeks or younger....maybe. I have 5 RIR and 3 cornish bantams. The silkie isn't sleeping in the coop at night with the other chickens. It sleeps outside curled up by itself. Should I be concerned? I brought it inside the past 2 nights. Am I spoiling it?

Should I continue to bring it in at night or leave it by itself? It's so sad to watch...

I'm not an expert on silkies, but I have read a lot about their behavior. You should put her in the coop at night with the other chickens, for some reason silkies tend to sleep outside (maybe their poor eyesight) but they can learn to go to the coop at night. Silkies also tend to develop a separate silkie only flock within the main flock. I would get her a couple silkie friends to socialize with. Good luck with her :)
