New Silkie - toes turned in. Fixing Minion's feet

Your chick maybe suffering from a vitamin deficiency - Are his toes curled? Instead of the Minion band aid, make his shoe out of the Vet Wrap, it's breaths & flexible. If his toes are curling her may be suffering from Curly Toe Paralysis (Riboflavin Deficiency/Vitamin B2). Treatment - PolyVisol with no iron 2 - 3 drops per day on his beak, Nutri Drench (vitamin & electrolytes, food rich in riboflaving (beef liver, boiled egg yolk, spinach, mushrooms, sesame seed, tuna).

I had a chick develop CTP at 3wks, separated him in a plastic bin using dog potty pads or paper towels on the floor for traction. I put a mirror (company with his reflection) in a corner with a feather duster (mimic hen) & heat light on that corner, also gave him a stuffed toy & kept the radio on. It took 2wks for him to show improvements.

You can read more on Poultry Pedia/Poultry Podiatry ... The last pic is of CC looking in at his siblings. He ended up spoiled :)

I have some liquid bird vitamins I am putting in the water. It was for my parakeets. His toes started out clenched like a fist from the get go. He had a hard birth. Was not able to pip until I used a metal file to score and thin the shell thin enough for him to pip on his own. I will go try the vet wrap now.

Sorry raised on butchering our own if we wanted food we raised it. But to each their own right

I am ok with people raising their own animals to eat, anything to fight factory farms... At least you know it was not tortured on purpose.. I just can't kill something to eat it therefore I believe I don't need to be eating it as I don't know what it went thru to get to me.

I have a niece my folks raised at about 11 she made the choice to not to eat meat believing also she is is healthier for making that choice he forever eats meat when he comes here or goes to his folks not allot but some they are good

Have you carefully stretch out his leg? Feeling anything abnormal? It could just be he needs physical therapy - been squished in the egg, difficult hatching, try extending his leg & exercising. I would suggest a splint to keep it extended but then he wouldn't be able to lay down or sit. Maybe other have more suggestions ....
