NEW STYLE HOVA-BATOR????

Well after reading this I think it's about time to get into hatching some eggs. I am going online now and gonna order one. My problem is I have never hatched any eggs EVER. I have always got my chicks from McMurrays. Hope this works out.

Just purchased this incubator a few days ago. It looks different than the ones I see on here. I'm told its new for 2012. It has a digital control center. It shows the the set temperature, incubator temperature, and humidity. Also you can adjust the temperature manually by two arrows on the control center. So far so good! Same price as the old one.

So now I'm wishing I would have waited and bought one of these instead of the brinsea.

How acurite is your hydrometer on it ?
A friend of mine got one & its reading 45% humidity with no water in it at all, he checked it with a differnt hydrometer & it was wrong by about 29%
Just wondering, maybe he needs to contact them about it
I have the older mod. eventhough its only 2 months old & its great!!!!

I don't trust the hygrometer at all. Without water i got the same 45% your friend got, when I filled the A channel it went to 54%, when I then added water to the B channel it went to 56%. I'm using it with a humidor hygrometer with know accuracy. The temp seems to be accurate.

Did you order it online?? When I go to the website I do not see any with digital readouts on them. I would really love to get one but don't want to chance buying the wrong one

Yes, its online on the GQF mfg website its the 1588 they just haven't changed the photo or description. Just call them they will tell you the same.

My hydrometer seems to be pretty accurate on it. I've compared it to three others and they all were within 1% of each other.

Ooh I am definitely going to order one then. It sounds really cool have you had any chance to play with yours at all and have you noticed any problems with it?

I currently have eggs in it right now. Its loaded with about 100 quail eggs. They are due to hatch on the Jan. 30. All seems to be doing well right now so no complaints so far. I don't know how much use I will get out of it this year as I just got a 1502 sportsman also as a gift from the wife.

I hope you guys have the success and satisfaction my father and I have had with my inherited Hova-bator. I did replace the plastic windows (they were so scratched I couldn't see through them). I used the glass from 5x7 frames. The dial type hygrometer inside the bator reads 25-30% which is perfect for dry incubation. This one has the fan already in it. It does make some noise when the fan is running. Sometimes it emits a high pitched squeal which causes the dogs to go bonkers. If you whack it on the side it stops making noises.
