New three week old chick has strange bald spot

Hi, this is my first time raising chickens and we recently got three chicks. We got them when they were two weeks and now they are three weeks. My Buff Orpington chicken has a strange bald spot on her chest and I'm worried she may be sick. And advice?

I'm no expert but could it have got burned?

I don't see how, our brooder box is indoors and stays within the 80's. Any other ideas? and if it is a burn then is there a way to treat it?

You don't have any heat source in your brooder? If not maybe another chick is plucking them out.

Looks like plucking to me too.
How much space do you have in the brooder, how many chicks and what do you feed?

3 chicks, we do have a heat lamp. brooder is 20 inches by 40 inches, the other two chicks are a welsummerand easteregger, all of them are the same age.

they are fed purina start and grow feed non-medicated.

I had Welsummer chicks last April and they were horrible peckers--always pecking at each other's feathers! Your chick is not sick but I do think she's getting pecked. If another chick senses even the slightest hint of irritated skin, it'll go for it.

It doesn't look red or irritated. I tend to agree with 'chickens really' on this one, it looks like the down has moved over to make room for the next batch of feathers. Young chicks seem to be in a constant state of molting until they get several months under their belt and are closing in on 'maturity'. By all means, I'd keep an eye on it 'just to be sure', but I wouldn't be overly worried about it right now, since it doesn't look like it's bothering the chick.
