Hi, I'm new here. I've had trouble figuring out how to post something. Hope I'm doing it right!
I have a young pullet about 8 weeks old and she has a doughnut shaped growth on her left jaw area.
Does anyone have experience w/ that? Any info would be appreciated because I want to fix it.

It would help a lot if you had a picture.

Can you post some photos of the growth?

When you mention a growth on the beak/jaw, the first two things that come to mind are canker or Fowl Pox.

This is my chick's growth. Has anyone seen one of these before?

@casportpony or @Eggcessive Thoughts??

It almost looks like some type of infection. Similar to what I've seen in a chicken's ear.

Can you take her to a vet?

If not, you may want to see if you can soften it with a little Peroxide and see if the center "plug" will come out. I suspect that it is hardened pus. As to what the cause it, I can't say. Most likely from being pecked and then the tiny wound got infected. If you do get a plug out, then apply some Vetericyn or triple antibiotic ointment to the "hole"

Just my thought, hopefully someone else may have a better idea.

Here's what it looks like at the ear.

The vets here won't see a chicken, so it's just me doing all the sewing and doctoring. I'm going to try taking the center out and see if that drains anything.
If that doesn't work I may try a shot of antibiotics and then as a last resort I can try taking the whole thing off and stitch up the slit.
