Hello Chan, nice to meet you!
I'm sure your chickens will be fine around your goat. I've even heard some chickens like to perch on the goats as a roost! Breeding your birds should be pretty easy, they'll just start doing it on their own once hormones start kicking in. Sometimes the hardest part is waiting for a hen to go broody long enough to hatch the eggs... not all hens have the desire to be moms. But you should get a nice barnyard mix from the birds you have. You can also use an incubator to hatch the eggs yourself in case you don't have a broody. Keep an eye on your cockerels as they grow to make sure they have the temperament you want to pass on, they won't be fully mature until a year old, that's when you'll know if they make the cut or not. Here's a few links to help you decide:

To try to find out about what breeds you have, be sure to post some good photos of your individual "mystery" birds here:

Best wishes in your new chicken adventure!

Hi, I'm Chan
New member of BYC. Although, I have been looking up info and pics for several months now. I look forward to learning and sharing with yall!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Not exactly "new". My parents raised chickens, ducks and geese when I was a kid. Now that I have a homestead of my own, I had to get some Chooks of my own. The ones I have now I've raised for 4 months now.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 20 in total atm.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Some are sex links my cousin gave me. No idea what breeds they might be. I have Ameraucanas, Barred Plymouth Rocks, Black Stars, Buff Orpingtons, 2 Roosters I'm not at all sure(bought assort. Bantams) and 1 White Jersey Giant rooster.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Farm fresh eggs. The therapy of watching them just peck the ground.❤ watching them grow from tiny day old chicks into magnificent, beautiful birds.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I love to garden, sew, paint, sculpt and cook.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 4 kids, married to a lovely man who spoils me with chickens , we have 1 goat named Billy and 3 dogs as well.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D I first found BYC last year. I was planning on raising chickens but wasn't sure what breeds I had available in my area or which would be best to raise. Now that my chooks are getting bigger, I found myself asking even more questions than before! How do I breed my chickens? Can my Jersey Giant mate with my Buff Orpingtons & black stars? What breed of chicken are my 2 red roosters? Will my goat eat my chickens? The list goes on! View attachment 1839035
