My husband and I bought six chicks (hence my username) from TSC in March. We were told we have Leghorns. All six are white. My husband always had chickens growing up but this a new experience for me but I am excited. Just this week the hens started laying! Only question is we are getting light brown eggs and white eggs! I don't think they are all Leghorns.

We're glad to have you.

One reason that you may be getting white eggs and brown eggs is that you may have White Plymouth Rocks as well as White Leghorns. These two breeds look similar, but the Rocks are generally a little larger and have red earlobes.

Leghorns should lay white eggs. If yours are laying brown eggs, then they probably aren't leghorns. Could you post some photos of them?

Ok, thanks for the information. I will get pictures and look at their earlobes. What color earlobes do the Leghorns have?
