Hello! My name's Alecks, or just Al. Around the small area I'm in, I'm known as the "chicken expert" and/or "chicken whisperer"- not to extend myself to level of the actual Chicken Whisperer, but you could say I'm pretty good with the birds. Even while I type, one of my bantam hens is sitting on my lap, wondering why I'm not petting her more right now. Anyway, introductions over, I used that sample question template:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've been with chickens since I was about 6-8, and I'm 16 now. So, it's been a long time, and my love has only grown for them!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently just have two bantam hens, Bean and Shera. Bean's sitting in my lap right now.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Shera's what I guess to be either a White Leghorn or an Americana bantam, and Bean's a red-brown Old English bantam.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Mostly just through surfing the web about chickens.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Mostly just playing video games and stuff. My main hobby is raising my birds.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Aside from the birds, I have a chihuahua named Ivan, and work at my father's feed store. My mother has an elderly Presa Canairo [Canary Island Mastiff} and an 11-month-old Cane Corso {Italian Mastiff}. Then there's our cat, a Russian Blue mix we found abandoned at a bar.
