New to chickens and in Alaska starting today!

woke up to cockadoodledoo! this morning.. guess we got a rooster too! heheh. to lazy to get up and look to see what one it was tho. i do believe its the one we call purple feet.

seems i have several roosters, what feed should i be using? right now im on nonmedicated feed, i want to slaughter these roosters for eating. is there a certain type feed? theres so dang many at the feed place that i dont know what to pick.

what is the age of your roosters as that has a lot to do with what to feed them?

i dont know if its early or not but slaughtered 3 of them so far. seems we have 3 or 4 hens outa 15 chickens.

have 5 boys left and 2 girls. rest in the freezer fridge or belly.

Wow thats quite a few roosters You live near fairbanks? I would feed the chickens Nutrena's Broiler Feed until their 20wks for hens, and just continue with it for roosters.

got 3 eggs!!! one was soft and broken, but 2 were great, hard shells and all. 1 green and one brown. now for the 2 hens, i made a nesting box and attached it to the coop today! yea!

down to 3 boys and 2 hens boys and girls in seperate coops. heck they are in seperate towns even!

2 more eggs today!!! they are laying them in the coop sawdust and not the new nesting box i built tho! dang it anyone got some tricks?
