I am a very new and proud chicken owner. I have two silkies (3 months) they are very healthy and free range. I was given two Ameraucana chicks two weeks ago from a family member that were hatched April 1st. They have medicated starter food and water in the coop. I let the silkies out of the coop all day they eat tomatoes, scratch, dried meal worms, etc. The day after I got the Ameraucanas I noticed one of them (Elsa) had an enlarged crop. After research, I have boiled garlic water and been also giving Greek yogurt. It doesn’t seem to be helping and she seems to be getting worse. I have now isolated her and fed Greek yogurt, coconut oil, garlic water. I am new to chickens and am looking for any advice, remedies or help! Thank you!

Welcome To BYC

Does she have access to grit?
Any difficulty breathing?
Is she pooping? What's that like?

When are you checking the crop? Check it first thing in the morning before she's had anything to eat/drink (after a full night's sleep) and see if it's empty.

IF it's not emptying overnight, then I would determine whether it's sour, impacted, etc. The info in the article linked below will help you with that. https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...w-to-know-which-one-youre-dealing-with.73607/

Thank you for your response!!
Since isolating her last night she has no more access to grit. Just yogurt and water.
No difficulty breathing
She’s pooping quite a bit and it seems to be normal and not too runny.
I checked her crop this morning and it has gone down significantly compared to last night. Still a little hard though.

I think I would start with Coconut oil and a light massage twice today, breaking up anything in the crop.
Make water, grit and a little wet soupy feed available for her during waking hours.
Tonight, take out food/water, then re-check the crop first thing in the morning. See how that goes.
