hey need some help I looked at all the homemade egg incubators and built one. got eggs coming to put in there but need some help. what temp do I want to keep it at? is it 99? and how about humity? any other help to get me started would be great.

My homemade incubator [coolerbator] works best with an average temp setting of 100.3°F and with humidity between 30-35% for the first 18 days.
Did you add a fan to circulate the air in yours?

If so the temp should be set no lower then 99.5°F, if it is a still air incubator the temp should be 101°F this is taken just above egg level.
As for humidity level it all depends on where you live. During candling note the size of the air sac as time progress's. If you need to make the air sac bigger decrease the humidity.

Good luck with your hatch!!!!!!!

it has a has in it. so I want low humidity? does that mean no water bowl and sponge ? when do I candle light them?

Get yourself a relative humidity gauge to measure humidity in the incubator. you can buy them at any hardware store or Wal Mart.
This way you will know if you have to add or remove water. To keep mine between 30-35% I just have a very small plastic cap that I need to fill twice day.

I usually candle my eggs for the first time on day 4 - by then you can usually see the veining branching out from the embryo. Other wise you candle on days 7, 12 and just before lockdown.

ok I just fired mine up for a test out side humidity is 46 here right now and that what it is in the box right now I just closed it up and turned the light on temp is at 75 right now i'm using a 40w bulb see how long it takes to get to temp might have to go to a 60. And what is or day is lock down? also how much to they need to be turned like how far do you rotate them.
