new to quail (my new quail pics)

Very nice looking quail and great set up for them. They look quite content!
Thanks! I've come across your photos and tips quite a bit in my travels now! Looks and sounds like you take very good care of your birds! I'm learning a lot!

I just got on the list for some gambles and valley quail breeding pairs next year! I'll post pictures when they get here! Its so close yet so far!!!
That's awesome! I seen gambles at one place getting some coturnix and they look real neat! I've seen pics of the valley quail and they look very neat too! I'd like to get into other kinds of quail someday! You bet!....post pics of them! Good Luck with them!

Also....I'm excited! Today is day 12 of my first ever quail hatch....mostly browns. My 3rd hatch of anything....I had chicks a couple weeks ago and ducklings last week. Gotta a broody turkey sitting on a bunch of turkey eggs....just need baby quail to hatch now! I am on day 4 of a few golden coturnix, too. Some Texas A&M eggs are coming from one place and a variety of colors coming from another. I'm just hoping for 2 live quail babies all said and done with my limited experience and homemade incubator...

Someone offered me quail eggs over the summer and decided to take a chance and get them. Yeah... about that. I lost a lot of my babies and then lost my only pair to my SIL's nosy pig. She got under the hutch and tore it apart 2 days in a row to get to the feed. First day, hen escapes. Second day, male escapes. I only had one male left and did a trade for more. I ended up with only 2 males out of around 12 or so. It worked out really well. We have 2 males in with about 5 or 6 hens (I've been away from home for 3 months now, so I can't really remember) and 3 hens with my last male from my first hatch. My parents are hatching more and my mom, who doesn't like birds at all, is really enjoying them.

We all love the little buggers and my dad wants to get more to add to the bloodlines.

Sorry to hear about your loses! Sounds like all are having fun with the ones you have now! Thanks for sharing! They are fun little buggers!

I have some babies that are starting to break out of their shell as I type this!

...for my first ever baby quail hatch!

Hello , I am new to quails too and have a question :
I put my quails with my chicken in the coop. I let my chicken out of the coop each morning to run around the yard and they return in the evening. Will the quails return as well ?
Thanks!

Congrats! They're fun to watch. It's just like everyone says, they look like popcorn.

I actually have fewer problems hatch quail than chickens.
Thanks! "popcorn"...

. I can't wait for the little things to come out! I'm excited! I have a lot more pipping than I thought I would, but nobody out yet. ....2 have pretty good sized holes. Today is just day 16 though. I've just started to hatch out eggs of any kind and I'm already addicted!...

Congrats on getting quail! I'm not qualified to give advice yet....

..., but incase this doesn't get answered for you.... from what I have come across so far, it is bad to keep quail with chickens because of the dieases chickens can give the quail and very unlikely they will come back in a free range situation. I'm new too and am still learning a ton. I haven't seen yet where anybody keeps their quail with chickens and only have heard a couple times where people knew of someone that had quail that would back to the coop each night. I am usually all about experimenting for myself on things, but probably won't ever try to free range my quail. My barn cats would probably attack them right off the bat I'm guessing, besides them just heading for the hills....

. I do like the idea of giving quail more of a life than just staying in tiny pens!
