new to raising chicks could use some advice !

That's good news :) Keep us posted, and keep checking those little butts for any more issues...sometimes the pasty butt can be a recurring problem for a few days but as long as you keep it clean and they are able to poop, you're good to go.
Also, nice choice on breeds. I have all three of those and they have been wonderful additions to the flock. They are good layers too.
yeah i tried to research breeds i wanted friendly breeds so im happy with them though the buff orpington is pretty pecky

I'm sure she will calm down, especially once she is older and begins laying. Mine likes to be carried around under my arm when I rake :p
Aww see thats how i want mine to be i want to hold them and stuff i can pet the ones that are already grown thet are the landlords but im hoping that with my babies they will like to be held

I made sure to pick each chick up and spend a little time just holding them, and making them comfortable with me. I didn't want them to fear me or be flighty as grown chickens, so I was constantly in the brooder room talking to them, and giving them TLC. They will grow to trust you and see you as mama hen. Some will grow to be more socialized with you than others, but it's so nice to have a flock that is people-friendly. A few will actually bother me and peck my shoes now if I don't pick them up haha...guess I got what I wished for :love

Aw how sweet. i am so excited to watch the chicks grow ..your hens sound so sweet

I don't believe any breed in particular is more prone to pasty butt, it has more to do with individual health and stress level. My Australorp never got it, but my barnevelder did, and my Delaware got it really bad.

What temperature is your brooder at? It may be too warm. My Delaware got pasty butt the entire week after she was shipped across country, and then it cleared up. It's frustrating to deal with, but just keep it clean as best you can back there and hopefully she will clear up soon. If you haven't already, I would add electrolytes or chick nutrients to the water - it comes in a little paper pack at the feed store and you just mix the powder in their water.

So its like 72 degrees today a
