(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My roommate and I are new to chickens! This is my first time having them...got chicks in February.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Seven.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Barred Plymouth Rock (1), Buff Orpington (1), Black Australorp (1), Golden Laced Wyandotte (1), Gold sex link (2), Red Ranger (1)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I've been reading stuff from the website since I got chicks - very helpful! Finally joined.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Camping, snowboarding, art, tennis, running, soccer.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm an Animal Behavior PhD student at UC Davis. So far I've resisted the urge to collect behavioral data when I watch my chickens....but I'm pretty sure the order I listed my breeds in is an accurate order of their dominance rank :P

Welcome to Backyardchickens.com aka BYC! :frow
We are so glad you joined our flock.
The more data you collect while watching them the better IMO.

Hi and welcome to BYC - great that you have joined us.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/category/learning-center.11/ and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread#post_3239224

All the best

Hi and welcome. I look forward to your contributions- my girls would make great subjects for behavioural study. It's hard not to hang around just watching what they do.
