New to the crew.

Sadly, I think it was three. I swear people were talking about it right after too. I don’t read the special section much, but I did a few weeks ago. The times are a changin’ soon.

LOL, I am starting to get somewhat a hang of the site and soon it is going to change according to the word on the street. Just my luck but growth is good or so I am told. I will take their word for it I guess. I can not lie though, my inner deep dark demons are screaming "It's Total BS, Growth and Change are BAD!" I try not to listen to them but I think they are stuck somewhere either deep in my brain or somewhere at the inner ear. If I ever find em, I hope to deprive them of oxygen. :duc

Hi TropicalBabies, I have met many that are exactly as you say and yes it is very unfortunate and sad really because I feel like I know what they are missing out on. For me it goes so much more deeper than just behavior and attitude. It was as if the emotional weight of the world was lifted off of my shoulders. I never realised just how one simple emotion can bring a person down every minute of every day. For myself Ego and anger was huge ones. I just wish that I could share the freedom that I had gained with people like that. The thing is now, my empathy kicks in for those people which I think is a good thing but it is also a real downer for me. I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve but, it gives me understanding on why a person might be that way. Yes, I have had more than enough time to think, scream, and ponder but I use that now. I look forward to when I get the time to do just that. I use it to my advantage so to speak. Before, I did not look forward to those times at all. Now, it is the best part of my day. I just wished there was a way I could share that but I don't know how to. It is truly one of those things that I can not put into words. Speaking of words, my apologies for the long response. I tend to ramble a great deal especially when I get to talking about things such as this. I thank you for the comment. It has done my heart well.
Have you ever thought of writing a book? :D

I have been told I should write a book more times than I got appendages. The thing is I have no idea on how to do such. That was never included in my education. If I did try, I know I could make the "New York worst sellers list". :gig
How about googling it or just start from the beginning... or just start writing the major parts and then fill the in rest? I have no idea myself but did have a few friends write some books. One, about her gender identity, another about her sailing experience and my old coach just wrote a couple fictional books that touched on personalities he knew. I figure, if they can do it... well, probably anybody can within reason. You sound like you have some good to share. :)

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am very new to chickens. I got my first chickens 1 week ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I have 6 chickens

(3) What breeds do you have? I have Sapphire Gems, Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Reds. All Female two of each breed.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Fresh eggs and ALL NATURAL is what got me into trying my hand at raising chickens and the fact that we love animals. My plan is to spoil them as much as our other pets.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Bee Keeping and custom ink pen making from domestic and exotic woods. (NO! I do not use wood from trees that are cut down. The wood I use is from trees that have fell on their own) Such as ancient Kauri wood that is 30 to 50 thousand years old. Yes, it has been carbon dated lol.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My name is Chris but I go by Ewok. I have a wife and 2 adult children. We have 3 dogs, 2 chinchillas, about 30,000 honey bees and now 6 baby chickens. My family and I are living in Memphis TN. I use to be an Electroneurodiagnostics Technologist but had a stroke 3 years ago that took away my 10 plus year career. I now stay at home and can not drive so, I have taken up my hobbies to keep me moving and to occupy my time trying to learn all I can. The key word in that last sentence is (Trying.) It is kind of hard to do when 1/4th of your brain is gone. No, that is not an exaggeration.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I found out about BYC through my mother and father who have chickens as well. My mother last week told me this was the place to learn what all I needed to know. My mothers suggestion is what made me join the community.
Welcome to the forum.

I think it would be fun to try. I would like to think I have some good to share and I would love to share the story. Even though I am now very different and just as any other life it comes with huge struggles but still, in my opinion a very good outcome. I will have to see what I can research.
