welcome becky, you were probably reluctant to get chickens for valid reasons, they are a lot of work, cost money, smell, take up time and can cause heartache but they are fun, have some real personality and can even practically become a pet.
I hope you end up enjoying them. Don't get more than you can handle and try to prepare for them as much as possible - the better your watering, feeding and coop design, the less work there will be long term looking after them
