New to this chicken sexing thing...

But chickens are related to dinosaurs, right? XD Thanks for reassuring me that I am not the only one with awful luck. The feathers, can you see them in the pic? Are these the feathers that I am looking for in determining whether I have a cockerel or not. Would be good to know for future reference (and to prove to myself that I'm actually getting the hang of this chicken stuff).

If not, maybe you shouldn't tell me...I was so pleased with myself when I found them.

This is Stan at 8 weeks

His sister, Jennifer-same age

Stan, Little Joe, and Marie. Two Cockerels and a Pullet

Stan did not crow until he was 25 weeks. The lazy bum.

Hope this helps!

Actually, I can't see in the picture. You are looking at the correct spot, and doing the correct thing. If you're finding little thin spindly feathers that don't look like any of the others, then you're right on target.

Yup, they are even sort of shiny/iridescent around the edges. While I am a bit disappointed at the confirmation that I do indeed have 7 roosters, it's so exciting to finally start to understand what all of these terms mean. Thank you so much for your help. Can I get a head pat?

Hmmm...Charlotte's feet are all black except her heels/toenails, which are yellow. IIRC, that means that it is either a giant or an australorp (can't remember which)? She also has white wing tips, if that helps.

The yellow on the feet mean Jersey Giant. And some have white on the tips of their wings until the first molt.

Thank you, that is good to know. I only hope that he turns out as lovely as your Stan.
