Hi all!! We are new to backyard chickens, and have had a bit of a rough start. We got four 1week old chicks the first week of February, and have raised them. We lost one (Bella the Barred Rock) the first week we put her the coop, there were no signs of sickness
. At 4 months we realized (chirpy our americauna) was a rooster he started to have a very clear crow. we gave him to the local feed store. We are not aloud to have roosters where we live!! We now have 2 left. 1 Rhode Island Red (Big Red), and 1 Brownleghorn (Egger). We do not have any eggs...I'm starting to get concerned. Also our Brownleghorn makes me wonder if she is a rooster as she has a large red comb (it folds over), and also has lots of red on her face. Her tail is not multi colored but it does go more up than out. Big reds tail goes out for sure. When I look at pictures on line it looks like Brownleghorns hens and Roos have bright red on their face. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
